Good Liverpool, the online marketplace for local independent businesses, has launched a Christmas beer to help raise funds for North Liverpool Foodbank.
The festive pale ale, aptly named Santa’s Belter, is a collaboration with Liverpool micro-brewery, Carnival Brewing Company.
A Christmas tipple with purpose, 10p from every can of Santa’s Belter will be donated to St Andrew’s Community Network, which runs North Liverpool Foodbank. The limited edition pale ale is set to raise the festive spirits of the city’s beer drinkers, while supporting those who need extra help this year.
As well as providing a boost for local foodbanks, Santa’s Belter will also fund a special masterclass with Carnival Brewing Company, which is designed to inspire those who have lost jobs during the pandemic to consider craft industries.
Attendees will have an opportunity to create their own blend of craft beer, which will later go on sale at Carnival Brewing Company’s Tap Room at King Edward Triangle, Liverpool Waters.
Alex Frech, founder of Good Liverpool, says: “Good Liverpool is all about bringing the city’s independent businesses together and encouraging people to shop local for the greater good. We already have a strong partnership with St Andrew’s Community Network and we are pleased to offer additional support to the charity’s foodbanks, which are already braced for a busy winter.
“Collaborating with Carnival Brewing Company has given us a real insight into the art of craft brewing and we have been blown away by the skill involved in the process. I’m sure Santa’s Belter will hit the spot with fans of craft beer and by shopping local, they will be supporting a fantastic Liverpool business, as well as helping those who need it most.”
Dom Hope-Smith, director at Carnival Brewing Company, adds: “We’re glad to be working alongside Good Liverpool to support local foodbanks and we’re also looking forward to potentially opening the door to craft industry for people looking for a new direction, during our masterclass session.
“Santa’s Belter is juicy, hoppy and hazy in appearance, it really is a serious pale ale worth celebrating. I’m confident this one will be a winner with beer drinkers in the city and knowing it’s helping a good cause will only make it even more enjoyable!”
Simon Huthwaite from St Andrew’s Community Network, which runs North Liverpool Foodbank, adds: “People are struggling more than ever this winter as the devastating economic impact of the pandemic takes its toll. We are super grateful to Good Liverpool and Carnival Brewing Company for supporting our foodbanks during this particularly challenging time.”
