Plans to build a ‘live/learn’ facility on the site of the former Archbishop Blanch School look set to be approved.

The proposed mixed-use development for Liverpool International College includes 259 student beds alongside teaching and office space.

The scheme, which has been brought forward by applicant Kaplan Liverpool Limited, is recommended for approval at a meeting of Liverpool City Council’s planning committee next week (21 February).

According to the planning application, the residential element of the scheme will be housed in a 13-storey tower with academic elements arranged in a three storey base building. The two buildings will be linked by a central atrium space.

The new facility forms part of Paddington Village, a £1 billion mixed-used regeneration scheme which aims to create an estimated 10,000 highly skilled jobs in the city.

Paddington Village, which itself is part of the wider Knowledge Quarter regeneration, also includes residential space and The Royal College of Physician’s (RCP) RCP North ‘Clinical Centre for Excellence’

If approved, work on the live/learn facility is due to start on site during mid-2017, with completion expected in January 2019.
