Unite Group has received planning permission for a one acre development on Leece Street for a 772 bedroom student accommodation.
The scheme will have a total cost of up to £46 million and deliver returns in line with Unite’s regional development targets.
The plans show four blocks, made up of 106 cluster flats and 58 studios totalling 772-bedrooms with a height of up to 11-storeys and will include ground floor retail units.
Richard Simpson, managing director of property for Unite, says: “We are delighted to have received planning consent for our new development in Liverpool which forms part of our ongoing regional development plans.
“We have worked closely with higher education providers and Liverpool City Council throughout the planning process, and the new building will provide a safe and secure home for the growing numbers of students attracted to the city.

“Liverpool is a thriving university city attracting students from across the UK and internationally. Students continue to be important contributors to the local economy and this new development will ease pressure on private residential housing in the area.”
The building will be in close proximity to the city centre’s amenities and transport links and make use of the former car park.
