More than 600 homes were reserved under the Help to Buy scheme in Merseyside in 2013, according to the latest figures released by the Department for Communities and Local Government.
In total 22,000 homes were reserved across the country in the ten months since the scheme was launched and Ian Kelly, director at Chartwell Mortgage Service, who provides advice to new Lovell home owners, says the figures have delivered a significant boost to the Merseyside housing market.
He says: “In the North West our experience is that it’s provided a boost exactly where it’s been needed. Essentially it’s been a lifeline for first time buyers and those with little or no equity in their homes who need to move up the ladder to find more space for a growing family.”
The Help to Buy scheme offers a 20% government equity loan which, when combined with a 5% deposit, means the buyer is using a 25% deposit and can access more beneficial mortgage rates.
The scheme is available for all new Lovell homes including new developments at Sevenoaks in Rock Ferry and Church Fields in Garston.
