Ice Rink and Ice Bar in Chavasse Park set to open

A fairy tale lantern parade and spectacular fiery finale will signal the beginning of 2014 Christmas celebrations across Liverpool, including an ice rink, ice bar and the switching on of the Christmas lights.

The Chavasse Park Ice Rink and Ice Bar, part of Liverpool ONE’s Ice Festival 2014, will open on Friday 7 November and this year marks the return of the 30-metre ice slide and an Apres Café bar to the city centre park. The opening will be preceded by a spectacular lantern parade, which begins at Paradise Street at 5.30pm and continues towards a finale at the Sugar House Steps in Liverpool ONE.

The night will also include live music and entertainment to welcome the launch of the park, while across the city Christmas lights will be turned on to welcome the festive season.

Donna Howitt, Marketing Director at Liverpool ONE, says: “We are delighted to be welcoming the Ice Festival back to Liverpool ONE. It has always proved to be extremely popular with all of our visitors and it is great news that we have lots of new additions this year too.

“It is the perfect place to really get into the Christmas spirit – whether you are a family, young couple or ladies looking for a break from the Christmas shopping. The Ice Festival really does offer something for everyone.”

The Liverpool Ice Festival in Chavasse Park will be open until 4 January.
