A live escape attraction could be coming to Liverpool’s famous Mathew Street under new plans submitted to the council.
Games operator Exit the Room has revealed proposals to convert offices above Hardys bar into a space for the popular social experience.
Live escape games, which typically see participants tasked with breaking out of a locked room by solving a series of puzzles or mysteries, have grown in popularity in recent years.
Liverpool already has several of these attractions, including Breakout Liverpool on Sir Thomas Street and Gamescape on Upper Frederick Street.
The site Exit the Room has earmarked lies at 20-22 Mathew Street.
A statement issued to Liverpool City Council’s planning department reads: “It is submitted that the proposed new use of the premises represents an acceptable change of use as it will reuse an upper floor of a building in a way which will encourage activity within the wider city centre outwith normal shopping hours.
“Although the application premises are not located within the city centre’s main retail area, the active use of premises on upper floors should be encouraged.”
