Liverpool Celebrates Mathew Street Festival has announced it will welcome families to the final day of its event at the Pier Head to aid a complete refurbishment at Ronald McDonald House Alder Hey.

Children’s tickets will be priced at £5 – with 0-5 year olds free – and go on sale from Friday 10 May at 5pm.

Ronald McDonald House, known as MacHouse, provides free accommodation to families with critically ill children in hospital. Ronald McDonald House Alder Hey is more than 30 years old and requires an urgent, major refurbishment to improve family support and ensure the long-term future of the accommodation.

The new partnership with Ronald McDonald House will see Liverpool Celebrates support the charity by fundraising via various channels over the whole weekend.

Janet Pennington, Ronald McDonald House charities UK senior corporate partnerships manager, says: “We are delighted Liverpool Celebrates has partnered with our charity as we work towards a major refurbishment of our Alder Hey House, ensuring thousands of local families with a child in hospital have a comforting ‘home away from home’ to stay in, completely free-of-charge.

“The festival is set to be an iconic event and the partnership shows a true Liverpool spirit of compassion and generosity to local people and charities.”

Liverpool Celebrates is bringing a four day celebration of Liverpool’s musical heritage, culture and people to the Pier Head, with the use of local suppliers and people, where possible, at the forefront of the operation.

Taking place across the August Bank Holiday (Friday 23 – Monday 26 August), Liverpool Celebrates will commemorate the 10 year anniversary of the last Mathew Street Festival on the Sunday and Monday with dozens of acts to perform across the music extravaganza.
