Selfie takers could win prizes for striking poses this weekend when a special competition takes place around Liverpool city centre.
Teams of up to six people are being encouraged to sign up for the free Liverpool Selfie Challenge, which is being held this Saturday (10 September) with gift cards and tickets up for grabs.
Potential participants have until 2pm tomorrow (Friday 9 September) to sign up for the initiative, which will see them exploring the city without vehicle transport to take selfies at as many assigned locations as possible.
At the Liverpool Town Hall starting point teams will be given a checklist of 20 venues they need to pose in front of to complete the ‘gold’ level challenge, 12 venues for ‘silver’ or eight to be in with a chance of winning ‘bronze’ level prizes.
Starting at 10am, competing teams will have until 2pm to post the required selfies, each with the listed location being identifiable in the picture, on Twitter using the hashtag #LVPselfie.
Prizes, which will be awarded to the first team to complete the most of their selected challenge, include £100, £75 and £50 Liverpool ONE gift cards, a family ticket to see ‘Snow White’ at the Empire Theatre, entry to a Merseyraces event and a Lifestyles family day pass, and afternoon tea at the city’s Central Library.
Ahead of the challenge Councillor Wendy Simon, assistant mayor and Liverpool City Council’s cabinet member for culture, tourism and events, says: “This is a fantastic event which is perfect for families, couples or groups of friends who are up for a challenge.
“It’s a great way to explore the city and keep fit at the same time – whether people take a leisurely stroll around the locations or aim to complete all 20 in the allotted time.”
The event has been organised by the council in partnership with the Clinical Commissioning Group.
