Liverpool welcomes Chinese Year of the Goat

Wind and rain didn’t stop crowds of spectators from heading out to enjoy Liverpool’s Chinese New Year celebrations.

The city welcomed the Year of the Goat – the eighth animal sign of the Chinese Zodiac – for 2015 in traditional style with a host of spectacular street entertainment.

Dragon and lion parades wowed those who came along to watch, along with an eye-catching firecracker display. Meanwhile a children’s fun fair provided further family entertainment during the festivities, and visitors also perused oriental market stalls.

The celebrations, which took place across the Chinatown area, were also accompanied by creative crafts and Chinese storytelling sessions in the city for all ages to enjoy during the half-term week leading up to the main events.
