A string of light displays, entertainment and workshops will take place throughout November and December in Liverpool city centre.
Liverpool BID Company has announced its festive schedule which includes the return of a traditional pine Christmas tree to Church Street (pictured).
From Thursday (15 November) shoppers, tourists and those who live and work in the city are being invited to ‘Follow the Star’ and explore a trail of twinkling lights and mystical sounds across the city centre’s main shopping and business areas.
‘Follow the Star’ includes the return of light installations on Bold Street and Castle Street, ‘Constellation Trees’ across the high street into the commercial district, and ‘Star Globe’ – a five-metre high 3D bauble in Williamson Square.
The traditional pine Christmas tree also makes a return to Church Street, along with one in St Paul’s Square and a further tree in Exchange Flags, behind Liverpool Town Hall.
The festive decorations are part of the BID’s drive to boost visitor numbers and improve the experience in the city during the Christmas period.
The magic will also take over St Johns Shopping Centre and Metquarter with workshops and festive animation.
St Johns will host its ‘Elfie Selfie Station’ once again, where families are invited by the elves for fun, games and Christmas craft making.
Meanwhile, Metquarter will be running a festive selection of craft workshops for families and adults, from piñata-making and silver pendant workshops to creating handmade Christmas decorations including wreath-making and book art.
Bill Addy, chief executive of Liverpool BID Company, says: “We know how important Christmas is for our levy payers and for the city, that’s why we are working closely with our city partners and businesses to create a distinctive Christmas offer which helps strengthen Liverpool’s position as an all-year-round destination.
“Liverpool is going to feel very Christmassy this year, and whether you work in the city centre, or you are visiting to shop, eat, drink and be entertained, we promise you a magical experience! We are looking forward to a very busy festive season ahead.”
