The Clothes Show will not be returning to Liverpool in 2018 after the brand was sold.

It was announced last November that the event, which relocated to the city from Birmingham in 2017, would take place at St George’s Hall and the Liverpool Empire in October.

However, according to an announcement from former owner Haymarket, it has been decided that The Clothes Show will not be held in 2018, with the new owner, fashion event specialist SME London said to be reviewing its options for “2019 and beyond”.

The Clothes Show relocated to Liverpool last year after 27 years in Birmingham.

Rebranded as the British Style Collective, the three-day event took place at venues across the city – celebrating fashion, the arts and culture.

Highlights of the festival included catwalk shows, shopping from over 250 fashion and beauty brands, food and drink pop-ups alongside educational seminars, beauty demonstrations and celebrity meet and greets.

Haymarket CEO Kevin Costello says: “The Clothes Show brand is an incredibly powerful one in the UK.

“It is, however, no longer core to Haymarket’s strategy as we focus on multi-platform brands and data-led solutions in our specialist market sectors.

“I’m delighted that we have found the perfect home for the brand with SME, who are ideally placed to develop The Clothes Show experience for 2019 and beyond.”
