The site of a former Liverpool bus depot could be transformed into a huge mixed-use development.
Plans to redevelop the old Arriva bus depot in Bootle with a 25,000 sq ft supermarket and over 100 new homes, have been recommended for approval at a meeting of Sefton Council’s planning committee next week (30 August).
Applicant Wincham Investments Ltd is seeking outline planning approval for the scheme which would include the demolition of all existing buildings on the site at Hawthorne Road.
The proposed housing includes a mix of 47 two, three and four-bedroom semi-detached and terraced homes.
In addition, two blocks of apartments are envisaged to be located along the canal frontage containing a mix of 72 one and two-bedroom flats.
A report to be discussed by Sefton Council next week reads: “In conclusion, it is considered the proposed development would significantly contribute to the regeneration of this unsightly industrial site and would provide much needed housing provision.
“Although the development would introduce an element of retail, it’s considered that the scale of retail development proposed would not significantly impact on the vitality and viability of nearby defined centres, including Bootle town centre.”
