A new £35 million student apartment complex will be a key part of Liverpool’s ongoing transformation, according to the project’s developer.

Tom Anwyl, director of Anwyl Construction, has welcomed Liverpool City Council’s decision to green light the Norton Street development and says he is “proud” to add to the city’s student housing stock.

He says: “Liverpool is a thriving and exciting city and we’re proud to be playing a part in its transformation. The Anwyl Group has a solid reputation for high quality and thoughtful building and we have ambitious plans for expansion in the North West.”

The council gave the development unanimous approval during a consultation on the grounds that it will contribute towards the mix of residential accommodation in the city centre and support the regeneration of the Islington area.

Tom adds: “We believe that to gain unanimous approval for such a significant development in a key location in the city is the perfect way to launch Anwyl across the border. There were no objections and it was commended by Peter Jones of Liverpool City Council who suggested that the scheme was in the right location for the local universities.”

Located near the former National Express coach station, the complex will house 566 student apartments across two blocks of 16 storeys and 10 storeys at 45-degrees to each other.

Anwyl’s first major development in Liverpool will also feature commercial units on the ground floor as well as communal facilities, including an on-site gym, games room and landscaping.
