Plans have been drawn up to build apartments across two plots of disused land in Kensington.

Applicant Wincome Properties wants to bring the brownfield sites on Holt Road back into use by constructing 26 new studio apartments and five two-bed apartments there.

The vacant plots, which form the entrance to Cotswold Street from Holt Road, once played host to terrace housing but were cleared and landscaped several years ago.

The area is located 1.75 miles from Liverpool city centre and has seen several new apartment schemes spring up in recent years as part of council-backed plans to regenerate Kensington.

A report submitted to Liverpool City Council’s planning department reads: “The application site consists of two existing vacant plots, which were cleared and landscaped some years ago.

“It is the intention of this application to bring these two dead plots back into life, providing much needed key person and young person accommodation which is much in demand in the area, and demand will only increase when the new Liverpool hospital is completed in 2018.”

The proposed scheme’s design promises to be in keeping with existing housing in the area, drawing on the architectural influence of recent housing developments in Kensington.
