New photos of a housing development proposed for the recently extended Knotty Ash Conservation Area have been revealed.

Liverpool-based MBED Architects has released concept images of the homes planned for land around Little Bongs, and at the junction of Thomas Lane and East Prescot Road in West Derby.

Homefast Ltd’s plans for the site near the new Alder Hey Children’s Hospital includes the demolition of existing garages, buildings and yards to make way for four two-bedroom houses, seven two-bedroom duplex apartments and 19 one-bedroom apartments.

Mark Bennett, director and creative lead at MBED Architects, says: “It is without doubt an exciting time for this area of Liverpool. The recent completion of the new Alder Hey Children’s Hospital continues to have a regenerative effect on the local area, and this project is part of that.

“We are delighted to have had the opportunity to enhance the Knotty Ash Conservation Area, transforming a neglected brownfield site in this prime location.”

The plans also include the creation of a pedestrian-only avenue and amenity space, with local residents occupying houses adjacent and beyond the site potentially benefiting from an additional access road, with a new access off Thomas Lane.

Homefast Ltd submitted a planning application for the development earlier this month.
