New apartments could be on the way to London Road under plans submitted to Liverpool City Council.

An applicant has revealed proposals to convert a vacant building at 50-58 London Road into six self-contained flats.

The property in question sits above the former home of Cash Converters and was previously offices before falling into disuse.

If the council’s planning committee approves the proposals, the building itself will undergo minimal alterations, with only minor elevation changes described in the application.

Doubled-glazed windows, fire doors, sound insulation and extractor fans will also be installed if the flats are given the go-ahead.

The site lies in close proximity to city centre landmarks including St George’s Hall, Lime Street Station, the Walker Art Gallery and the Empire Theatre.

London Road was one of Liverpool’s busiest nightlife districts in the 1960s, but has since struggled to compete with other parts of the city centre which have undergone regeneration.
