Plans to build a new four star hotel on the site of the former premises of the Liver Grease, Oil and Chemical Company in the Baltic Triangle have been revealed.
Crossfield Exclusive Development Ltd wants to develop the proposed site on Norfolk Street and has identified a hotel operator and brand to occupy the hotel once complete.
Proposals for the hotel submitted to Liverpool City Council include designs for 202 bedrooms, a restaurant, outdoor terrace and a gym.
Crossfield is currently building the neighbouring Norfolk Street Phase 1 – the stalled North Point Global scheme it purchased out of liquidation, and a smaller residential scheme on Bridgewater Street.
According to a document included with the planning application, Norfolk Street Phase 1 is part way through construction which will allow a “continuity of the design and construction between the two projects”.
It’s understood the new hotel will create 35 full-time and 25 part-time jobs.
The Liver Grease, Oil and Chemical Company, which occupied the site until July 2019, was founded in 1809 as P.Holgrove and Co- Turpentine Distillers, and moved to Norfolk Street in 1900.
