‘Pay as you feel’ cereal café raises £2k for homeless charity

A ‘pay as you feel’ cereal café at REX: The Concept Store on Bold Street has raised over £2,000 for a Liverpool homeless charity.

Members of the public who donated an amount of their choosing were served coffee, tea and cereal, and the proceeds were gifted to Liverpool Homeless FC (LHFC).

LHFC chief executive John Finnigan was presented with a cheque for £2,237 following the conclusion of the cereal café initiative.

John says: “This will make a massive difference to us and to the people we support. We are always looking to raise our profile as well as our finances to help those affected by homelessness, and this will go a long way in enabling us to continue our work.”

Established in 2007, LHFC provides services for those affected by homelessness in Liverpool, using football as a means of social integration and part of a wider support network.

Addressing the cereal café’s success, Deputy Mayor of Liverpool, Ann O’Byrne, says: “This is a fantastic achievement for everyone involved and further demonstrates that the people of this city will always look out for each other. To raise this amount of money in such a short space of time is testament to the community spirit that is very much alive and well in this city.”

REX: The Concept Store will continue to support LHFC with a suspended coffee programme giving visitors to the store the opportunity to further donate to the cause.
