As part of the Sefton 2030 partnership between Sefton Council and The Sovini Group, plans are advancing for the redevelopment of the former St Raymond’s Catholic Primary School site in Netherton.

Earmarked to deliver in excess of 50 affordable homes, the St Raymond’s development forms part of phase one of the initiative to build more than 1,000 homes across the borough by 2030.

Sefton 2030 combines the delivery of social, affordable and accessible housing with local economic growth, reinvesting commercial profits in the borough. Social housing will be allocated through Property Pool Plus to local people in housing need.

Roy Williams, CEO of The Sovini Group, says: “Here at St Raymond’s, and through Sefton 2030, we deliver more than just homes for local people – we will regenerate communities, invest in the local economy, and provide apprenticeships and meaningful employment that will change lives.”

Peter Dowd, MP for Bootle, adds: “Sefton 2030 is a collaboration with The Sovini Group to ensure we deliver the homes so desperately needed across our communities. St Raymond’s is just one of the first steps as we prioritise the delivery of affordable homes, as well as local infrastructure and services.”

Cllr Phil Hart, Sefton Council’s cabinet member with responsibility for housing, adds: “Sefton 2030 is about much more than building new homes. It is about creating thriving, sustainable communities, supporting local people and ensuring growth benefits every part of our borough.

“Through our partnership with The Sovini Group, we are bringing underused sites back into productive use, delivering the affordable homes residents need, and reinvesting value back into Sefton.”

The St Raymond’s development remains subject to planning permission. The Sovini Group says it will consult key partners and give local residents opportunities to share their views.
