The public is being invited to help create a special sound installation with renowned composer Patrick Dineen, as part of Liverpool’s Mental Health Festival.
Participants will work with Patrick, who composed a piece for the opening of Liverpool’s year as Capital of Culture in 2008, over a 10-week period before unveiling the finished project on ‘the most miserable day of the year’ in January 2017.
The ‘City Within Sound Project’ will attempt to bring some cheer to Monday 16 January, otherwise known as ‘Blue Monday’, exploring sampling, field recording and studio production.
All 12 participants have the chance to create a ‘district’ of their own in the imaginary city of sound which will also consider the definition of self and psychological wellbeing in relation to the psychologically repressive and ‘unhealthy’ world.
The project gets underway on 3 October at Studio 2 on Parr Street.
