A new ‘international’ cake hub has been launched on Merseyside to help nurture the next generation of cake decorators.
The Wavertree-based facility has been fitted out with state-of-the-art teaching aids, equipment, tools and technology and has the ability to live-stream classes and demonstrations around the world.
Opened by cake ingredients maker Real Good Food, the training centre known as the Renshaw Academy will work with talented cake decorators alongside City of Liverpool College to nurture decorating skills among young people from across Merseyside.
The firm says the new centre will also act as a platform for the innovation of its products whilst allowing the company to test out emerging technologies in ingredients, processes and packaging.
Pieter Totte, executive chairman at Real Good Food, says: “We are always looking for ways to be innovative and the Real Good Food Liverpool Development Centre is a place where our experts can explore, create, teach and learn with some of the best equipment in the world.
“There is a growing global market for our products and we want customers to be inspired to bake at home with our top of the range, creative ingredients.”
Elaine Bowker, principal of City of Liverpool College, adds: “Baking and cake decoration is an incredibly skilled and creative trade and this investment here in Liverpool by Real Good Food will not only benefit the local community, but will serve as a global hub for food technologists and scientists, bakers and other creatives working in the food industry.
“We are very excited to be working with Real Good Food in this world-class facility.”
Courses will begin at the Renshaw Academy this July.
