Student dancers are taking part in pop-up street performances across Liverpool city centre to mark Valentine’s Day.
The flash-mob style routines will be carried out at prominent tourist spots by a new intern dance company created by Merseyside Dance Initiative (MDI) and Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU).
The group is due to feature at the LEAP festival in March and the street performances will serve as a preview of their repertoire at the upcoming dance event.
Karen Gallagher MBE, artistic director of MDI, says: “MDI have always been on a mission to inspire people to express themselves through movement and the intern company is the perfect opportunity to reach out to the community and take to the streets this Valentine’s Day, while giving something back to the city’s aspiring dancers.
“We are a big supporter of the World of Work programme that LJMU offers and regularly work with students to develop both their dance portfolio and business skills.”
The street routines will take place on February 14 and leading up to International Day of Dance on April 29.
LEAP, which celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2017, takes place between 1-12 March.
