Off-plan sales for the Wolstenholme Square project have exceeded 120 in the New Year with the process to appoint a contractor underway.
Elliot Group expects to have a contractor in place by the end of February with work scheduled to commence in the spring on the 445-room apartment building.
The £40 million development plans for include studio and one-bedroom apartments, with a refurbished square and a new pathway to Seel Street which will feature restaurants, cafés and workspaces for independent businesses.
Developer, Elliot Lawless of Elliot Group, says: “The scheme’s really captured people’s imagination.”
Jorge Pardo, who designed the sculpture ‘Penelope’ in the centre of Wolstenholme Square for the Liverpool Biennial in 2002, will refurbish the sculpture and design new street furniture for the area and the passageway to Seel St.
Elliot added: “Quite a few purchasers mentioned Jorge Pardo’s involvement in the development’s landscape design.
“He has a massive reputation in the arts world and there’s no doubt he’ll add considerable value to the scheme overall.”
Also included in the proposals are a new home for nightclub Cream, and a new performance space managed by The Kazimier.
