New social housing scheme planned for Toxteth

Almost 30 new houses could be built across four sites in Toxteth under plans submitted to the council.

Liverpool Mutual Homes is behind the proposed scheme which would see a mix of two-bedroom and three-bedroom properties built around Warwick Street.

The homes would be split across four plots, all of which are on or adjacent to Warwick Street and have been left vacant for a number of years.

In total, the proposed social housing scheme includes 25 two-bedroom and four three-bedroom properties with “significant areas of private open space.”

According to a document included in the planning application “affordability is an increasing problem across the area and a growing issue creating specific problems for the local population.”

The attached document adds that “bringing the sites into beneficial use will achieve economic and environmental benefits as well a visual impact on the street.”
