A new coffee shop which will offer a range of family-friendly features including kids’ haircuts and beauty treatments for busy mums, is nearing its opening date.

The brainchild of local mums Roisin Dean and Sue Kelbrick, Wigwam Coffee Shop located on Rose Lane promises to provide families in the area with a “unique coffee shop experience”.

Roisin and Sue came up with the idea for Wigwam after struggling to find somewhere which would welcome both them and their children.

School teacher Roisin says: “Sue and I have seven children between us varying in age from a few weeks old up to eight and when we were both on maternity leave we found it really difficult to meet in coffee shops.

“We felt the pressure of trying to ‘contain’ children rather than encourage them to explore and learn and do what comes naturally to them. We’ve been mindful of the general public whilst breastfeeding and apologised many, many times for prams being in people’s way.”

Sue adds: “We decided that busy parents (and grandparents!) and their amazing children deserve better.”

Alongside tea, coffee and fresh food, Wigwam will also include a baby sensor area, books and games for children of all ages and hold regular events for adults and children alike.

Work is progressing well at the South Liverpool site with Roisin and Sue hoping to be open by early June.
