We Luv Festival, due to take place at Aintree Racecourse over the late May Bank Holiday weekend has been cancelled.

Organisers of the two-day event cited ‘contractual differences’ with the owners of Aintree, Jockey Club Racecourses, as the reason behind the sudden cancellation.

Over 80,000 people were expected to attend the family-focused festival, which was set to feature big-name artists including Dizzee Rascal, Scouting for Girls, Example, Sugar Hill Gang and Fatman Scoop.

The festival was also due to be the first of its kind focusing on children and families with a food offering, funfair and host of activities.

A spokesperson for We Luv Festival says: “We are all so disappointed that the festival can no longer take place. We have worked tirelessly to bring Liverpool its first family focused festival.

“We are so dismayed that the festival can no longer take place due to irreconcilable contractual differences between various parties”.

“We Luv Festival would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for all the support received so far.”

Responding to concerned festival-goers on Facebook, organisers added that they are “already planning for 2017” and “will be looking at site possibilities over the next few weeks”.

Anybody who has purchased a ticket to attend the festival has been contacted with details of how to be issued with a full refund.

The Jockey Club was unavailable for comment.
