Drummers, a community picnic and food and craft stalls will take over Toxteth for three days, as the Loving Lodge Lane celebration gets underway.
The festival was started in 2011 as a response to media coverage of the 30th anniversary Toxteth riots and aims to create a series of community events between Wednesday 17 June and Friday 19 June.
The event begins with a coffee and cake meeting at Granby Toxteth Development Trust at 10.30am on Wednesday, followed by a performance by La Bamba drummers, craft stalls, childrens’ entertainment and a community picnic on Cullen Street between 4-6pm.
Thursday sees activities move to Fern Grove Garden, where local produce stalls will be set up alongside a plant giveaway and sales of compost bins.
Loving Lodge Lane finishes on Friday will arts and crafts, stalls and a wheelie bin competition at Baths Site on Lodge Lane/Grierson Street between 1.30-5pm on Friday.
Councillor Laura Robertson-Collins says: “It is an opportunity for local people to show they love the area where they live.
“Loving Lodge Lane has been growing each year and this year’s event will involve a lot of cleaning, greening, and positive community activity in the three wards around Lodge Lane.”
