Bold Street business shows ‘no sign of slowing down’ according to the Liverpool BID Company, after plans to transform the former Republik nightclub into a new hotel were revealed.

A spokesperson for Liverpool BID says: “This would be an interesting development on Bold Street. The area is maturing in its quality food and retail offer and applications of this nature is a reflection of that trend.

“Bold Street has seen a huge surge from entrepreneurs over the past two years attracting 20 new, mostly independent, businesses and signs are showing no sign of slow down, with three new businesses opening up in November.”

Set up in 2005, Liverpool BID Company is an independent organisation that aims to support and improve the business trading environment in the city centre.

Permission has already been given to turn the bar, which is located on the junction of Bold Street and Slater Street, into a hotel and preliminary work is now underway with a provisional opening date of early 2016.

It could be the right time to open a new city centre hotel according to a report recently published by the Local Enterprise Partnership.

The study, produced using a model provided by STR Global, reports that occupancy levels in the area have risen by 3.5% between August 2014 and August 2015.
