South Liverpool could be about to welcome its latest branch of Costa Coffee.

Plans have been submitted to Liverpool City Council for the conversion of the former Motor World store at Penny Lane Shopping Centre.

If approved, the new Costa would join three branches of the popular coffee shop chain nearby with two on Allerton Road and one on Smithdown Road.

Vehicle parts and accessories outlet Motor World, which still retains a presence in the city on the East Lancashire Road, has been closed since last year.

A planning document included with the application states that any conversion would have minimal impact on the surrounding area and could create up to six new jobs.
