Decision to be made on Bevington Bush student village

A decision is expected to be made next week (5 April) on the proposal to build four blocks of student accommodation on Scotland Road.

The development will provide accommodation for 1,019 students as well as deliver an on-site gym, yoga studio and student hub.

Plans have been submitted by Bevington Bush Developments Limited and are to be considered for approval by the Liverpool City Council planning committee.

Previously plans had been approved for 381 student flats but this recent proposal marks a decision to increase the number of students that the site will cater for.

If plans are approved, the two warehouses currently occupying the site will be demolished to make way for four interconnected buildings comprising a series of eight, nine, 11 and 16-storey blocks.

The student village will include 169 studio apartments and 124 four-seven bedroom flats. There are also plans to develop a convenience store, cycle storage and five parking spaces.

A report to be discussed by the planning committee suggests approval of the application will “assist in the planned mixed-use expansion of the city’s business district into the Limekiln/Pumpfields area”.

The planning report adds that “the diverse range of high-quality student accommodation will lend itself to a range of students, and assist in its long-term sustainability”.
