Georgian Quarter terrace restoration ‘not student accommodation’

Terraced homes in Liverpool’s Georgian Quarter will not be converted into student accommodation, according to the developer despite plans stating otherwise.

A spokesperson for Elliot Group, which is restoring the listed buildings on Percy Street and Upper Parliament Street, tells Your Move that its planning application erroneously listed the scheme as student homes.

The £3.2 million project was previously touted as “family homes” which were expected to be ready for spring 2018, providing Liverpool City Council approves the proposals.

However, the plans submitted to the local authority describe the development as “student accommodation” which “will be split over four storeys and divided into six clusters ranging from five rooms to six rooms”.

Some of the vacant Georgian properties will be converted into four-bedroom townhouses, while others are divided up into 1-bedroom apartments.

Your Move reached out for clarification on the proposals and was informed that the mention of student accommodation was merely a “drafting error” and Elliot Group will resubmit the plans with it removed.
