Kids’ pick: Attractions for the whole family

Little Red and the Big Bad Wolf

2 December – 7 January, Unity Theatre

It’s ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ but not as you know it. Yes your little ones may be familiar with the classic tale but this retelling by theatre company Action Transport Theatre will enthral them as it respins the story and gets you thinking. Ask yourself – are the wolves the villains if the woodcutter is destroying the forest? Tickets £8 – £14.

Dazzling Light Display

3 December – 2 January, Albert Dock

Liverpool’s stunning waterfront is set to get even more spectacular this festive season with a dazzling light display planned. Technology specialist Crucial FX has teamed up with National Museums Liverpool to organise a show-stopping Christmas light display every evening from 3 December.

Snow White

10 – 31 December, Liverpool Empire

Pantomime season is in full swing and this year Liverpool Empire will delight audiences with family favourite ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’. With former ‘Hollyoaks’ and ‘I’m a Celebrity’ star Jorgie Porter taking the title role and Radio City favourite Leanne Campbell featuring as the Wicked Queen, this fairy tale performance is sure to be a hit. Tickets from £11.

Cinderella

13 December – The Epstein Theatre

A classic story with a modern twist. Join the put upon Cinders as she’s forced to look after her evil, Ibiza-loving stepsisters Britney and Whitney at Hardup Hall. Will she make it to the Royal ball and win Prince Charming’s heart? Written, directed and choreographed by former West End actor Graham Tudor, it’s expected to be a big hit with audiences. Tickets £12.50.

Santaland

Every day until 24 December, Calderstones Park

Returning for Christmas 2016, this festive event will delight youngsters with a host of fun activities. From Santa’s Train Ride and a balloon ride to dodgems and a ferris wheel, there’s something to keep everyone entertained. Hot and cold drinks and snacks are also available. A three-hour session will cost you £7.99 and the price includes meeting the big man himself and unlimited rides.

Christmas at Chavasse Park

Liverpool ONE

The Ice Festival may have found a new home but there’s still plenty of fun to be had on Chavasse Park with a host of Christmas rides including a carousel, helter skelter, Santa family roller coaster, Santa’s toys, elf swings, Santa’s arctic penguin game, Santa’s planes, teacups, Santa’s train and a Snow Globe photo opportunity. There’ll also be traditional Christmas market treats including a Bavarian House Bar and a festive hog roast. Open 11am – 8pm (9pm Fridays and Saturdays).
