School’s out and summer’s here, so we’ve rounded up some top Merseyside events in our latest Kids’ Pick to keep the little ones entertained throughout August and September.
Ben and Holly’s Little Kingdom
4-5 August, Liverpool Empire
Richard Lewis creates his very own adaptation of the BAFTA award-winning television animation set in the miniature world of fairies, elves and insects. Expect games, songs and laughter as Ben, Holly and friends embark on an enchanting musical adventure for all the family.
The Three Musketeers
16 August, Ness Gardens
Pack a seat and a picnic and head to the beautiful Wirral Peninsula gardens to enjoy an outdoor production of The Three Musketeers. Set against a sweeping panorama of 17th Century France at war, this production is a whirlwind of excitement, broad comedy and ingenious story-telling for the whole family to enjoy.
The Sorcerer’s Apprentice
21-22 August, Calderstones Mansion House
This truly magical open air show features original music by Paul Dukas as used in Fantasia, as well as exciting illusions designed by the famous Paul Daniels. Performances take place at 2pm and 7pm.
Liverpool Family Fun Festival
28-31 August, Riversdale Police Club Grounds
Family members of all ages will be entertained over the bank holiday weekend, as a whole array of activities and attractions descend on the South Liverpool site, leading on to Otterspool Promenade. There’ll be rides, soft play and carnival games for children, while adults will be treated to live music, food and drinks.
Happily Ever After
17-19 September, Unity Theatre
This fairytale theatre production, created by Action Transport Theatre (ATT) and LGBT Youth North West, is inspired by Dutch children’s book ‘King and King’.
The show will use ATT’s trademark visual, wordless storytelling and comedy clowning to tell the story.
Piñata Pizazz
19-20 September, World Museum
As part of the museum’s landmark Mayas exhibition, the local Mexican community will host this free drop-in event for children under five. It will allow young visitors to explore a traditional treat and enjoy the thrill of breaking a piñata.
