A former bakery which opened on Lark Lane more than two decades ago could be replaced with a restaurant under new plans.

Mr Chris Nolan has brought forward proposals to convert Balbero’s Kitchen into a takeaway selling gourmet burgers, steaks and milkshakes.

Balbero’s, which started trading on the South Liverpool street in the early 1990s, specialised in breads, pastries, sandwiches, pies, cakes and buffet platters.

A planning application submitted to Liverpool City Council proposes internal and external changes to the shop to create a takeaway known as ‘Steak & Shake’.

The new eatery would include seating for a maximum of eight diners.

According to the planning application for 75 Lark Lane, work to get Steak & Shake ready started in January 2019.

YM Liverpool reported on a similar application last March from a Mr Christopher Nolan for the change of use of a former estate agents on Allerton Road into a “hot food takeaway” selling “gourmet burgers, steaks and milkshakes”.

The application was withdrawn in May 2018.
