Liverpool’s famous Parr Street Studios could relocate to premises in the city’s burgeoning Fabric District under new plans.

A planning application recently submitted to Liverpool Council Council by Rooftop Property Limited is requesting the change of use of 103-105 Kempston Street from a place of worship to “general industrial (recording studio) to aid the relocation of [the] Parr Street Studios business to Kempston Street”.

Drawings included with the plans outline the location of project studios, a project/mixing studio, a live room and a control room across the adjoining buildings.

In April, Liverpool-based construction firm PJ Percival put forward proposals to redevelop the legendary recording studio’s current home on Parr Street (pictured) as part of a new mixed-use scheme which includes apartments and a hotel.

Following the unveiling of the proposed redevelopment, Parr Street Studios issued a statement on social media confirming it was “exploring some alternative options to continue as the recording studio you know and love”.

Since it first opened its doors in 1991, a whole host of famous artists have recorded at Parr Street including Rihanna, Black Sabbath, Justin Bieber, The Coral, Spice Girls, Jamie Webster, Diana Ross, New Order, Take That and Dusty Springfield.
