An 800 sq ft zip wire on one of Liverpool’s busiest shopping streets could return for a second year.
The zip wire, which was erected by event organisers Mellors Group, is the subject of a new planning application to return in summer 2015, after more than 10,000 people took on the daredevil challenge across six weeks in 2014.
The wire was originally set to last a month but was extended because of its popularity last year and could now be returning if the application is approved.
A 115ft tower will be erected on Church Street to send participants over the heads of shoppers once again, with charity fundraisers receiving discounts on the £15 price tag last year. In 2014, the wire stretched from Hannover Street outside Lloyds bank to Lord Street outside Forever21. Lord Mayor Erica Kemp was the first to use the zip wire last year, before it was open to the public.
