Major Liverpool PRS scheme gets government backing

A significant North West private rented sector (PRS) project that will see a number of new homes built in Liverpool has received endorsement from the government.

Backing for the scheme was given during an event at No. 10 Downing Street, which announced the launch of an initiative to encourage foreign investment to help boost the UK housing market.

Residential property and urban regeneration specialists Sigma has now begun the second phase of its PRS scheme which includes 900 new properties across the north west.

A joint venture between Sigma and Gatehouse Bank, Countryside Properties and Central Lettings Solutions will act as Sigma’s PRS scheme delivery partners on the project.

The Kuwait Investment Authority has given its backing to Gatehouse, while the UK government has also endorsed the scheme which has been hailed as an example of how foreign investment can be used in a variety of sectors across the country.

Chief executive of Sigma, Graham Barnet, says: “Today’s announcement reinforces Sigma and its partners’ position at the forefront of private rental housing development in the UK.

“Together with our partners, we will be delivering a further 900 high quality family homes across Greater Manchester and Greater Liverpool.

“Our efforts to increase the supply of rental housing and assist with the regeneration of these areas will serve to increase the appeal of the Northern Powerhouse, making it an even more attractive place for UK workers to live with their families.”
