A new McDonald’s restaurant could be heading to Liverpool city centre under new plans.

The fast food giant is looking to open in the vacant former My Local store on the corner of Church Street and Ranelagh Street

The shop, which has been empty since My Local went into administration in June, is part of Clayton Square Shopping Centre.

Owner Rockspring, which purchased the shopping mall in April 2016, has applied for a change of use to allow McDonald’s to potentially open its fifth branch in the city centre.

If approved, the restaurant will be spread over two floors, covering 5,576 sq ft.
