New Sound City location revealed

The new location for next year’s Sound City has been revealed as the festival returns to its central roots.

Over 250 bands will play the 11th edition of the two-day event which this year took place at Clarence Dock and saw performances from The Kooks, Metronomy and The Cribs.

For 2018, Sound City will take place in the Baltic Triangle and Cains Brewery areas of the city across a variety of warehouses, outdoors stages and pop-up venues.

The first artists for the festival will be announced in the coming weeks.

Becky Ayres, Sound City’s COO, says the location switch is set to “bring back the spirit of discovery” to the festival and revealed “a suitable eclectic and forward-thinking lineup which mirrors the Baltic Triangle’s spirit” is being assembled.

Becky adds: “We are all very happy to be bringing Sound City back to its roots and hosting 2018’s weekend in May in the Baltic Triangle.

“It’s the perfect place to really capture the magic of what Sound City was always built upon, and what we are bringing back – taking in lots of inspiring and wild shows, all within minutes’ walk from each other, with a vast range of live artists, DJs, label heads, creatives, industry icons, producers, performers and more.”

Sound City 2018 will take place over the first spring bank holiday (5 – 6 May).
