Roadshow underway for National Apprenticeship Week

A roadshow-style event hosted by the Liverpool City Region (LCR) Apprenticeship Hub will get under way today in Liverpool ONE to showcase apprentice opportunities in the area.

The free event, which runs from 15 March to 17 March, will offer the opportunity for young people to talk to industry professionals and training providers, and get involved with free ‘have a go’ workshops.

The LCR Apprenticeship Hub aims to increase the awareness of apprenticeships available in the region, connecting young people with apprenticeship activities and local businesses.

Councillor Ian Maher, lead for employment and skills in Liverpool City Region, says: “Apprenticeships play a crucial role in the Liverpool City Region and have a positive impact on individuals, businesses and the wider economy. We want to celebrate this during National Apprenticeship Week and also create a real buzz around apprenticeships and the exciting opportunities that are available for our residents and local organisations to get involved with.

“I hope that people take the opportunity to come along and ‘have a go’ of the great activities on offer and find out more about the many benefits of apprenticeships”.

The first instalment of the event will feature fashion shows and make up demonstrations with a focus on opportunities within the fashion and retail industry.

Hospitality, catering and the visitor economy will be featured on Wednesday with cookery demonstrations and tasting sessions, while service and manufacturing opportunities will be highlighted on the final day with a ‘skills show’ and demonstrations.

The event will take place from 15 March to 17 March in Paradise Street in Liverpool ONE.
