The entry deadline for a prestigious awards scheme celebrating the region’s top homes and construction initiatives has been extended by almost two weeks.

Property professionals have been given until Friday 27 January to submit their entries for the 2017 RICS Awards, North West which is aiming to attract record submissions this year.

Affectionately known as the ‘property Oscars’, the RICS Awards hands out accolades to the land, property, construction and environmental developments, including residential projects, which enrich the community they serve.

This year’s event is already said to have received more than 300 entries.

Prizes will be awarded in the categories of Building Conservation, Commercial property, Community Benefit, Design through Innovation, Infrastructure, Regeneration, Residential, and Tourism & Leisure, and there will be a special Project of the Year title for the development which the judges feel adds the most value to its local area.

Carolyn Robins, RICS Awards manager, says: “We’ve had an overwhelming response from industry professionals in the North West who have entered some remarkable projects; from small scale pioneering schemes, to large multi-million pound developments.

“But we know that many more outstanding property schemes have recently completed in the region too, which fully deserve the recognition that winning an RICS Award can bring.

“So with this in mind, we’re anticipating a record year for entries and a shortlist of truly inspirational schemes which will then go on to compete for their respective category award.”

Last year, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital claimed Project of the Year and was also honoured in the Community Benefit and Design through Innovation categories.

The 2017 RICS Awards, North West will be presented at a black-tie ceremony on 19 May at Titanic Hotel Liverpool.
