The conversion of Liverpool’s Heap’s Rice Mill into homes will begin early in 2016, as ground work begins on site today.
The Baltic Triangle building, which was listed last year, will be refurbished and converted as part of a scheme to build 800 new homes and studios comprising one, two and three-bedroom accommodation.
A spokesperson for Elliot Group told Your Move work is set to start in the first three months of 2016 for the scheme, after the car park was closed today to make way for preliminary investigations of the site prior to work taking place.
In total 123 apartments will be created at the site of the former mill to be sold on the open market, with the rest of the proposed homes based in a new block to be built on the former Greenbergs site. Together the two buildings will form the One Park Lane scheme.
The £130 million scheme was modified after original plans to demolish the historic mill were blocked when English Heritage listed the building last year. However architect Falconer Chester Hall, planning consultant Turley and Elliot Group submitted modified plans retaining the building, which were approved in November 2014.
