Work underway on £20m Seel Street hotel

Liverpool-based contractor Newry Construction has begun construction on a new 116-room hotel on Seel Street.

The Times Hotel by Vincent, which will be operated by hospitality entrepreneur Paul Adams on completion, will include a rooftop pool and spa.

The boutique hotel, which is scheduled to open in late spring 2018, was a later addition to Elliot Group’s neighbouring £40 million Wolstenholme Square project.

Offering an update on his Wolstenholme Square development, Elliot Lawless of Elliot Group, says: “We’ve just completed Block A at Wolstenholme Square so it’s pleasing to see that the rest of the project is pushing on.

“You can now get a real sense of what we promised at the outset, and how the city-scale of our buildings mirrors what stood here before the Luftwaffe came calling.

“Whilst we can never recreate structures like the wonderful old Valspar factory, we can bring back its scale and massing and animate the ground floors.”

Wolstenholme Square will include 445 studio and one bedroom apartments spread across four blocks. A further site to the rear of the development has recently been purchased from social care charity PSS and will pave the way for a £36m mixed-use extension to the Falconer Chester Hall-designed development.

In June, Elliot Group was awarded planning permission for another hotel which will be operated by Paul Adams, this time in the Baltic Triangle.

The Vincent Residence & Hotel will include 306-rooms, 50 ‘over-sized’ serviced apartments, a basement event space and a range of ‘luxury’ rooftop services including a restaurant, lounge, spa, gym and outdoor circuit training terrace.

Work on the project is expected to start in early autumn.
