Live action pirate battles will take place in Albert Dock, as the Liverpool’s Pirate Festival returns in September.
The festival features sword fights, authentic pirate vessels, real cannons and gunpowder in a dramatic battle as a story is played out on the water. Taking place on 12-13 September, the festival will also allow visitors to step on board the ships and meet notorious pirates from history.
Liverpool Pirate Festival also includes live birds of prey, face painting, a young pirates parade, sea shanties and the chance to see inside a recreation of an 18th century encampment.
Meanwhile, the bars and restaurants in Albert Dock will offer a selection of pirate-themed deals include kids eat free in some venues, pirate-themed cocktails and fancy dress.
Peter Cronin, director of development and marketing for Albert Dock Liverpool, says: “Liverpool Pirate Festival has become a real favourite on the city’s annual events calendar, and we are delighted to announce its return. The festival continues to grow year on year in both the number of people attending and in the amount of family entertainment scheduled into the programme.
“When you combine Albert Dock’s stunning maritime setting with the organisers’ authenticity and attention to detail, you have a totally unique pirate event that the whole city can be very proud of.”
