A food truck offering Asian ‘tapas’ style food will become the newest permanent resident in the Baltic Triangle area of the city.

Pao will be based on the corner of Flint Street and New Bird Street in the Baltic Triangle and aims to offer Asian-inspired sandwiches, curries, Japanese ramen and noodles.

The food truck will sell ‘hangover noodles’ and ‘dirty fried rice’ at weekends, with healthier options through the week inspired by flavours from Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Korea, Japan and China. Dishes will come with a base and customers will be able to build their own meal from those, in what has been described as ‘Asian Tapas’ by the team behind the venture.

Head chef and company director, Shelly Turner, who is co-founder alongside Mia Tagg, says: “At the moment there are some gorgeous places to eat in the Baltic District, but it is all bread and potato based. Pao wants to bring something different.

“Pao’s food is fresh, locally sourced and we always aim to make the most out of what is in season locally.”

Pao will launch on 21 May at 5.30pm at District and will be open from 10am to 6pm every Monday to Friday.
