An eight-bedroom aparthotel could open on Bold Street in Liverpool city centre under new plans.

Proposals to convert space above fast food outlet Subway and the neighbouring e-cigarette shop into serviced accommodation have been submitted to Liverpool City Council.

If the plans are approved, the exterior of 41 Bold Street would be given a Georgian-style makeover, in keeping with the architecture of surrounding buildings such as Rennies Gallery and Miyagi.

A report to be discussed by the council reads: “The most noticeable change to the exterior of the building is the redesign of the shop frontage to a Georgian style one. It is more in keeping with the character of Bold Street and offers by far a more attractive façade design compared to the existing condition.

“The new curtain wall system is to be a hardwood frame painted black white all the ornate panelling is to be done on site by a joiner using marine plywood and painted black as well. The glass is to be double glazed inserts.”

Each of the aparthotel’s bedrooms would provide kitchen and bathroom facilities, fitted wardrobes, a king-sized bed, an area with soft seating and a wall-mounted television.

Existing toilet facilities at the site would need to be demolished to make way for one of the units.

The upper floors of the building which are earmarked for conversion are currently vacant.
