Plans to build 20 new affordable homes in Huyton are expected to be approved by Knowsley Council this week.
The mix of two and three-bedroom properties will replace sheltered accommodation on Lyme Close.
Knowsley Housing Trust (KHT) is behind ‘Sycamore Green’, which is to be delivered on a Shared Ownership basis.
A report to be discussed at a meeting of Knowsley Council’s planning committee this Wednesday (8 February) is recommending the scheme be approved.
According to a document included in the planning application, the site currently accommodates 36 one-bedroom sheltered apartments which are “no longer fit for purpose” and have become increasingly difficult to let.
The document adds: “Following the completion of 101 new residential units on Alamein Road (1.5 miles south west of the site), many of the Lyme Close residents have relocated to this new development leaving the existing dwellings vacant.
“The scheme will deliver high quality affordable Shared Ownership family housing which will provide much needed new homes.”
If given the go-ahead, it’s anticipated work will get underway on site in the spring.
