Two of Liverpool’s most prominent property development and investment companies have united to sponsor this year’s annual Football For Change fundraising gala.
Legacie Developments and RWinvest have come together to give their support to the social mobility and charitable initiative, which was launched in 2021 by some of the biggest names from world football including Liverpool and England international Trent Alexander-Arnold, Leicester City star Conor Coady and Real Madrid ace Jude Bellingham.
Chairman of the initiative is the former Liverpool defender and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher, who has helped raise nearly £1 million in less than three years to provide better life chances for young people growing up in poverty in some of the most disadvantaged parts of the UK.
Football For Change funds life-changing education, employment and sports programmes and grants are distributed by the Communities Foundation for Lancashire and Merseyside.
This year’s big fundraising event will take place in Manchester on Saturday 18 November and will feature performances from pop singers Olly Murs, Tinie Tempah and Beverley Knight. BBC Radio 2 presenter Vernon Kay will also be involved in a live Q&A with former footballer Peter Crouch.
John Morley, chief executive and founder of Legacie Developments, says: “Football For Change is close to my heart because it provides a lifeline to young people living in poverty, as well as school leavers facing barriers to achieving their potential.
“Legacie Developments is delighted to be partnering with the footballers to sponsor this year’s fundraising gala. I am hoping we can make a real difference together and look forward to seeing how Football For Change can impact even more young lives for the better.”
Michael Gledhill, director of RWinvest, adds: “The power of business leaders and footballers coming together to provide opportunities for young people who are having it tough cannot be underestimated.
“Football For Change has already started to make a difference in Liverpool, Manchester and beyond by funding projects in education, employment and sport. I hope through sponsoring the annual fundraiser we can help the project achieve even more.”
Liverpool FC legend and co-chairman of Football For Change, Jamie Carragher, adds: “Huge credit to Legacie and RWinvest for giving Football For Change such important backing this year.
“They, along with other sponsors such as Swinton Insurance, MJ Quinn and G&G Joinery, are helping deliver an incredible event which will hopefully raise thousands of pounds for Football For Change.”
