Liverpool to host first Tequila and Mezcal Festival

The UK’s first ever festival dedicated to tequila and mezcal will be visiting Liverpool’s Albert Dock in August.

Tequila and Mezcal Fest 2015 will be held at Liverpool Maritime Museum on 8-9 August and promises a taste of the popular drinks – without the traditional salt and lemon. Instead, it will focus on cocktail masterclasses and Mexican food to celebrate the drinks.

The agave extravaganza will be home to master classes by Liverpool’s bartenders, including a selection of Mexican food and cocktails from El Bandito. There will also be live entertainment during the event, complete with Mariachi alongside Folklore dancers.

Special guest Tomas Estes, Tequila Ambassador for Europe will lead blind tastings as he discusses the difference between Blanco, Reposado and Anejo.

2015 is the year of Mexico in the UK and to celebrate, Tequila Fest have partnered up with The National Museum, which is hosting the biggest Mayan exhibition ever seen outside of Mexico.

The event will take place on the fourth floor of the museum with views over the Mersey, and organisers are expecting success after the London festival in 2014 attracted over 1,000 visitors keen to try out the drink.
