A major development on Liverpool city centre’s Pall Mall that includes 366 new apartments has been recommended for approval by planning officers.

The development at 70-90 Pall Mall will go before the planning committee on Tuesday 17 February, when the future of the scheme will be decided. If approved, the 366 apartments will be split into 39 live/work units, 107 studios and one-bedroom apartments and 220 two-bedroom apartments and duplexes.

The scheme will include an eighteen-storey tower, a 516 space multi-storey car park, office space, ground floor shops and a fifth/sixth floor restaurant. The plans also include a gym, an external terrace, a spa and roof garden. However, initial plans for a helicopter landing pad have not been included in the final proposals.

To make way for the scheme a warehouse will be demolished but the historic front will be retained.

The report says: “The residential units will address an identified local housing demand and assist with the City’s housing land supply, contributing towards a balanced living community. The development as a whole is considered of an appropriate scale and modelling that will create a defined urban form and set a high-quality design benchmark for the future regeneration of this ‘Pumpfields’ area.”
